DR. AKINO TAHIR

Dr. Akino Tahir is a is a senior researcher at Resilience Development Initiative (RDI). She graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology, under Monbukagakusho scholarship. Her dissertation focused on community-based solid waste management and its scaling up, part of which is published in JICA Monograph on Solid Waste Management in Asian Mega Cities and Big Cities.
Between 2013-2016, she joined Save the Children International in Singapore, supporting 15 country offices around Asia in general operation and humanitarian responses and other regional projects. She was involved in developing SCI Asia urban knowledge and learning framework and in SCI engagement with 100 Resilient Cities. Since 2017, she works as an independent consultant, taking on projects related to youth, child rights, gender and urban planning. With RDI, she has done consultancies for Oxfam, SNV and Save the Children. She is also co-leading the Urban Refugees group within RDI.
